Council meetings are attended by the Mayor, elected councillors, the General Manager and Council’s executive staff. Anyone can attend a Council meeting and watch the proceedings from the Public Gallery. Members of the public cannot participate in the Council meeting, and must remain silent at all times.

Any act of disorder may result in expulsion from the meeting in accordance with the Code of Meeting Practice.

Matters that require a decision are provided to Council in a report by Council officers. The report provides the background, discussion and conclusion for the topic and makes a recommendation. These reports are collated into a ‘business paper’ or Agenda that is distributed to all Councillors and made available to members of the public on Council’s website.
