Council sends out rates notices in July each year, if you do not pay it in full Council will send you a reminder notice each quarter.

When to pay

You can choose to pay your rates:

  • Once a year in full by 31 August
    or
  • By quarterly instalments, each instalment is due by:
    • 31 August
    • 30 November
    • 28 February
    • 31 May

How to pay

Bring your notice into a Council Office during office hours. Payments may be made by cash, credit card/EFTPOS or cheque.

By B-Pay

BPay

If your financial institution offers BPay, you can use the BPay system to pay your account by either the telephone or the internet.

When making a payment using BPay, you will be required to enter the biller code and reference number. These are shown next to the BPay logo on the front of your notice.

Remember that your Rates Notice has a different BPay reference number to your Water Notice.

Please Note: Payments made via BPay are not processed to Council’s account until the next banking business day, accordingly, please consider your banking institutions payment delays. Carrathool Shire accepts no responsibility for the late processing of your accounts when using BPAY.

Detach payment advice (found at the bottom of your rates notice) and forward together with cheque to: Carrathool Shire Council, PO Box 12, Goolgowi NSW 2652. Cheques should be made payable to Carrathool Shire Council. Sufficient time must be allowed for the payment to be received on or before the due date.

Interest

If you are late with your payments, Council is required under the Local Government Act to charge interest on overdue balances. The current interest rate is 9% per annum calculated daily.
