Hillston

Hillston is located on the banks of the Lachlan River, approx. 6 hours north of Melbourne, 4 ½ hours south of Bourke and just 1 ½ hours north of Griffith. Located on the main street are banks, cafes, supermarket, newsagency, pharmacy, pubs, Ex-Servicemen’s club, speciality shops and a local art gallery incl. Visitor Information Centre. There is also a swinging bridge, walking trails, skate park and swimming pool.

Hillston Caravan Park
The Hillston Caravan Park is managed and maintained by Council. The caravan park is pet friendly and boasts 6 short term cabins (4 x 2 bedroom cabins), 23 worker cabins, 30 powered grass sites including drive through sites and 10 unpowered sites along with disabled access refurbished amenities block, laundry and camp kitchen. The Caravan Park is within walking distance to the Lachlan River & Hillston Ex-Servicemen’s Club. A Dump Point is located adjacent to the Park.

Lake Brewster Weir Campground
The Brewster Weir Campground is a free primitive campground, containing a toilet, picnic facilities and fireplaces. Accessed by 2WD in dry weather only. Directions from Hillston travel along the Kidman Way, turn right onto Lachlan Valley Way (20km), turn left at the Ballyrogan Channel Bridge (14km) then over the grid for a further 2.6km.

Lake Brewster at the right time of day and season can be quite spectacular as many different waterbirds return to Lake Brewster after feeding elsewhere (e.g. cormorants, pelicans, egrets, ibis, spoonbills, ducks, herons).

Goolgowi

Goolgowi is located on the crossroads of the Mid Western Hwy and Kidman Way, approx. 5 hours north of Melbourne, 6 ½ hrs west of Sydney and 30 minutes north of Griffith. Located within the village is a service station, post office, hotel, Ex-Servicemen’s club, motels, caravan park, skate park and swimming pool.

Goolgowi Caravan Park
The Goolgowi Caravan Park is maintained by Council. The caravan park is pet friendly (on lead) and boasts 14 powered drive through grass sites and 5 unpowered sites along with an amenities block. Dump Point in Rear Lane. Site Fees can be paid at the Goolgowi Council Chambers during office hours or the Goolgowi Ex-servicemen’s Club after hours.

Rankins Springs

Rankins Springs Village is located on the Mid Western Highway between Goolgowi and West Wyalong and is approx. 6 hours north of Melbourne, 6 ½ hours west of Sydney and 40 minutes north of Griffith. The village is known for its birds with 7 designated bird hides strategically located around the area and Wally’s Junk Art Gallery. There is also a pub, general store, post office, motel and service station.

Carrathool

Carrathool village is situated on the Riverina plain approx. 5 km north of the Murrumbidgee River and is approx. 5 hours north of Melbourne, 1 hour from Griffith and 40 minutes south of Hay. Visitors to Carrathool can make use of the local park, stop for a cold drink at the Family Hotel or visit Pinker’s Beach on the Murrumbidgee River for a picnic or to throw a line in for a spot of fishing.
