Carrathool Shire Council manage and maintain

• 3 landfill sites located in Hillston, Rankins Springs and Carrathool
• 2 transfer stations located in Merriwagga and Goolgowi

Residents are encouraged to utilise bins and signed areas provided and are urged to separate their waste into metals (ferrous and non-ferrous), aluminium cans, glass, green waste, paper and cardboard, and then dispose of the remaining material into the bins. Items of a bulky nature e.g. furniture require Council approval to utilise existing pits.

Garbage Collection

A garbage collection service is provided by Council on Tuesday mornings for Hillston and Thursday mornings for Goolgowi & Merriwagga. To ensure your bin is emptied, it must be placed kerb/road side the night prior to collection day. Residents of Carrathool and Rankins Springs can utilise waste depots in close proximity to these townships.

Garbage collection and tip access levies are charged with rates charges, exceptions to these levies can be requested by completing the “Rural Tipping Charge Exemption” form.
