Carrathool Shire’s Youth Services caters for young people aged between 12 and 25.

Youth Services

Within Carrathool Shire there are various services made available for our youth:

  • Neighbourhood Thoughts Online Consultation Group
  • NSW Youth Week
  • Outdoor Gyms located in Hillston and Goolgowi
  • Parks located across the shire
  • Skate Parks

2023 Youth Mural Project

Our Youth Mural Project is now completed with 3 new murals in Hillston, Goolgowi and Rankins Springs. Painted by Luke Vineburg an artist from Wagga Wagga the project was funded by the NSW Government’s Children and Young People Wellbeing Recovery Initiative.

Youth Community Groups and Clubs

Like many regional areas, our towns thrive with community and sporting groups which are an awesome opportunity for our young people to come and work together for the good of the community.

  • Carrathool: Sport Club
  • Goolgowi: Golf Club, Rugby League, Touch Football, SES (16+).
  • Hillston: Basketball Association, Creative Arts Council, Golf Club, Hook Line and Fishing Festival, Junior Cricket Association, Junior Rugby League, Lions Club, Outback Triathlon, SES (16+), Show Society, Swans Football and Netball, Swimming Club, Tennis Club, Dance Classes and Volleyball Association.
  • Merriwagga: Golf and Tennis Club.
  • Rankins Springs: Fishing Club, Dance Classes, Tennis Club, Golf Club, Pony Club and Rugby League.

NSW Youth Week

NSW Youth Week (NYW) is an annual event and is the largest celebration of young people aged 12-25 in Australia. Thousands of people get involved in NYW every year and we love celebrating with the young people in our shire.

Previous Council Youth Week events include: Selfie Photo Competition, Photography Workshop, Trivia and Pizza Afternoon, Cinema and Bowling Trip, Colour Run and more.
